Al2O3Cr ( Kezako ? 2 pincées d’aluminium, 3 pincées d’oxygène et du chrome, cet ingrédient en plus qui fait qu’un saphir devient rubis ).
Le Rubis est une des quatre pierres précieuses, que comporte le Diamant, l’Émeraude et le Saphir. Il était la gemme la plus connu et la plus prisée grâce à sa beauté, sa rareté et son attachement au Soleil, pierre sacré !

Durant l’antiquité et jusqu’au XVIIIème siècle (grâce à l’avancée scientifique), les pierres rouges étaient généralement appelées « rubis » … Jusqu’à ce qu’on pu les différencier.

Son exploitation
Les plus belles pierres se trouvent en Birmanie ( gisements qui malheureusement s’épuisent ) et au Sri-Lanka. On les trouve aussi Thaïlande et au Cambodge, ainsi que sur tous les continents. Il y en a également dans le sud-ouest du Groenland, profitant de la fonte des glaciers pour se laisser découvrir par l’homme …
Son entretien
Comme pour d’autres pierres précieuses, le rubis se nettoie avec de l’eau et du savon et se sèche avec un chiffon doux. Il n’aime pas la chaleur ni les produits chimiques, donc on l’enlève dans ces conditions !

Le plus grand rubis du monde s’appelle 125West, et fait 18 696 carats !
